BIOGRAPHY

Sara Sanz is the Scientific Officer at the European Commission's Joint Research Centre, where her work spans decarbonisation and circular economy technologies. Her research coordinates policy-relevant scientific findings and translates them into actionable EU strategies for sustainable industrial transformation.

Sara joined the Joint Research Centre in 2024, building on prior positions at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Rice University. She led multidisciplinary projects at both institutions addressing microbial electrochemistry, CO₂ conversion, electrofermentation, and water treatment, advancing work from the laboratory to pilot scale.
